Postdoctoral position in Geostatistics, Modelling, Animal Population
Dynamics.
The Canadian Forest Service, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario seeks a
postdoctoral fellow to take a lead role in developing landscape- level
models of insect outbreak patterns over time and space in Ontario. The
research is part of a collaborative project (including the Forest
Landscape Ecology Program of the Ontario Forest Research Institute) to
develop dynamic spatial models of landscape-scale natural disturbance
regimes in Ontario.
The fellowship is for one year at the NSERC rate of $35,184.00 and is
renewable for a second year. The appointment will begin as soon as
possible.
The successful candidate should have completed a Ph.D. within the last 5
years and should have demonstrated some expertise and a research
interest in geostatistics or the development of spatially explicit
simulation models of animal population dynamics. Proven computing (PC or
UNIX) and quantitative skills are essential. Knowledge of and experience
with GIS, spatial databases, and insect population dynamics are highly
desired.
Preference will be given to Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
