Re: Sustainable Forest Management

Bret -

I admire your willingness to take on the world on any and all subjects, but I
suggest you need some better sources to do so.

You asserted that 65% of Canada is designated as wilderness. The following is
a direct quote from, "The State of Canada's Forests 1993" published by Natural
Resources Canada.

"Over the past three decades, the protected area in Canada has almost
quadrupled - from 25 million hectares in 1960, to the current figure of 90
million hectares. Protected areas now account for more than 9% of Canada's
toal land and freshwater, or approximately 12% of the world total."

Federal and provincial governments have pledged to reach a goal of 12% of lands
under protection by the year 2000.

Given the magnitude of your error regarding Canada, you might want to verify
your sources for Brazil, Australia, etc.
