Dear Sirs, I try to keep my flames small and refrain prom personal attacks or estimating the character of messages. It seems to me that CJ Hulsebosch has sent a private message to N. Wong because have not seen such a message on the list. It would be impolite and against the Internet netiquette to include a private message in a public bulletin board without the consent of the sender. > On Wed, 15 Nov 1995, Ph.C.J. However, some messages which could be interpreted as advertisments such as job announcements, conference announcements, new books in forestry (preferably with a review of the book), announcements of new services etc. are welcome. Repeated ads or posts to multiple mailing lists etc. are not welcome. Nelson Wong of MTC has written to the Forest list 17 times during the last two months. Nine of these messages can be read as pure advertisements of MTC services, three are short requests for statistical information of other countries and six are replies to inquires from other subscribers. Unfortunately he has also had a bad habit of answering with a few lines and then including the **whole** request at the bottom. I have already privately suggested that MTC should start a private mailing list to serve those individuals who would be interested in receiving regular information and announcements from them. I'm sorry I have to write this publicly. Usually if any flaming is needed I prefer doing it privately. This message should NOT be understood as an attack or assault against N.W., MTC, Malaysia or commercial companies in general, but as a reminder of the purpose of this list. Everything we have seen is ok, but in ample quantities. This time the limit seems to be reached. I hope N.W. will bring his wit in the discussions of the list but rather leave the frequent promotion of his company services for other forums as this seems to be the request from the subscribers, too. Please, when replying consider carefully how personal your reply is. Should it really be sent to all subscribers around the world? Think of all the junk mail coming into your mailbox... If your feelings are aroused by a message, sleep overnight before replying, your reply will be written in quite a different tone - I speak from experience. Send any comments to me privately, thank you.
