The Council on Renewable Resources in Manufacturing (CORRIM) produced a
study many years ago (late 70's or early 80's?) indicating that for most
uses, wood is the most energy efficient resource around.  I don't know how
one can get one's hands on a copy of this report, though.  Perhaps someone
on this list knows...
