Re: ecology after thinnings



Given the species you're working with, you might want to avail
yourself of some of the research here in the Pacific Northwest.
If you're interested, I can forward your message to colleagues
at the Forest & Range Experiment Station in Portland, Oregon.
There are laboratories in Olympia, Washington, Portland,
Corvallis, Oregon, Seattle, Washington, and Juneau Alaska, all
of which are in the temperate mesic forest type and where such
research has been done.  Lodgepole is a fascinating tree with an
unbelievable ecological amplitude, not unlike Pinus Sylvestris.
One thing is for certain: you will have Lodgepole forests from
now on in Britain.
