Response looking for more information: Clintons reccisions bill which contains the rider claims that the "documents and procedures required" by the rider "satisfy the requirements" of existing enviornmental laws and therefore bypasses them. They are suspended becasue they are redundant with respect to the rider? I was under the impression that the only part of these laws that was suspended by the rider was the public review/comment requirement. All other portions of the laws remained in tact and enviornmental protections are still very much in force. Am I wrong??? I agree that the rider does not deal soley with salvage and is therefore not aptly named but I see nothing wrong with managing our national forests for multiple values (that includes timber). Enviormentally responsible forest management should be a part of our national forests - otherwise they should be called natioal parks.
