The Danish Research Councils invite applications for the position as Research Council professor in wood and plant fibre technology The professor will be placed at the Royal Veterinary and Agri-cultural University (RVAU), Copenhagen, Denmark in the Department of Economics and Natural Resources. Description of the post The professorship is part of the project "Characterisation and use of plant fibres for new environmentally friendly products" funded by the Danish Research Councils under the programme Biological materials and products. (A project description can be obtained upon request.) The project will start in November 1995 and is co-ordinated by professor Per Ole Olesen, RVAU. The new professor will be in charge of the scientific aspects of the project as well as be responsible for the general development of research into lignocellulosic wood and plant fibres for high performance and environmentally friendly biocomposites. The appointee will also participate in teaching activities at Ph.D. level. Primary qualifications The candidate must - have a proven record of scientific achievements of international standing in the field of lignocellulosic research - be dynamic, inspiring and good at working with people at all levels - be excellent in organising and conducting research projects - have experience within Ph.D. supervision and training The application should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and relevant reprints (max. 10), together with documentation of academic degrees and the most important evidence of teaching skills and qualifications. Furthermore the application must contain a research proposal for 5 years. The application (maximum 5 pages) and the research proposal must be written in English. Selection of applicants All applicants will be evaluated according to the rules for Research Council Professorships. Each applicant will receive the selection committee's evaluation report. The evaluation of fellow applicants may not be published without their consent. Terms of employment The position is a 5-year research post and the working language will be a Scandinavian language or English. The salary will be the Danish civil service scale 37 plus a supplement giving a total annual salary of approximately DKK 480,000 including contributions to a pension fund.
