FORUM Quality Jobs for Quality Ecosystem Outcomes

FORUM: "Quality Jobs for Quality Ecosystem Outcomes".
NOVEMBER 7 & 8 Beaverton, Oregon

The forum is a joint effort of USDA Forest Service, USDI BLM, the Regional
Ecosystem Office, Oregon Economic Development Department and the Ecosystem
Workforce Project. The purpose of the forum, in the words of Regional
Forester John Lowe, is to "1) improve our collective understanding of the
opportunities to maximize the social and economic benefits of natural
resource management; and, 2. to share experiences, successes and
challenges among all partners so that we can better manage our respective
programs to achieve the best results." The forum will be a virtual
"one-stop-shop" for planning teams from local areas to come and share,
learn and plan, and build the networks needed to develop or continue a 1996
Ecosystem Workforce Demonstration Project. Managers and community partners
not involved with demonstration projects will be able to explore the what
and how of achieving sustainable economic and social outcoms as well as
quality ecosystem management.

As you can see, the forum is really for those directly facing these
challenges in Oregon, Washington and California, people who have been
involved or are interested in making a difference in how we manage our
programs: Community and state representatives, dislocated worker program
operators, community colleges, non-governmental organizations, federal
agency Line Officers, forest/district/area Staff, resource managers and
program coordinators.

Please join us for this special event and pass on the information as
appropriate. Also, please note the registration deadline and the deadline
for taking advantage of the special rates at the Greenwood Inn in
Beaverton.
