Dear Dr. Metelerkamp, Because I see my name there I suspect that you are talking about the forest mailing list residing at the FUNET listserver? We should be careful to use the correct names here: ForestNet is a commercial BBS service operated in the United States by the ForestNet Inc. (more info at http://www.forestnet.com/). This mailing list has NOTHING to do with that service! > May I therefore suggest two changes? > > 1 The forest list is split into the individual catagories TOPICs > (or sub-groups of them); > > 2 The ForestNet have a separate component for those interested > _only_ in plantations. The new listserv software made the use of TOPICs possible, and nine out of 11 possible were created. Thus far no-one has really started using the topics in the correct way (and I suspect most subscribers have not selected the topics in their personal settings). The traffic on the list is still so limited (few messages per day) that separation into multiple lists is inappropriate. About your other question on soils, Juha Heiskanen at METLA maintains the WWW Virtual Library for Soils and Substrates at http://www.metla.fi/metla/su/people/heiskanj/jh-links.htm Please, if you know additional links, write to juha.heiskanen@metla.fi Best regards, Jarmo Saarikko the listowner of forest@listserv.funet.fi manager of the WWW Virtual Library: Forestry
