Dear colleagues We are conducting research into the causes of the European Forest Transition from shrinking to expanding forest areas as part of our project 'Modelling the Forest Transition' at Aberdeen University. Portugal has emerged as a country which has undergone large rates of increase in the forest area since the 1850s. Does anyone know of any Portuguese contacts with whom I could discuss this issue (forest historians, agricultural geographers, foresters, economists etc); and any institutions worth visiting in Portugal? Thanks for your help, Jamie *************************************************************************** Dr. Jamie Fairbairn Research Fellow Modelling the Forest Transition Geography Department Aberdeen University Tel:UK 01224-273589 Aberdeen AB9 2UF Fax:UK 01224-272331 Scotland, UK. email geo305@abdn.ac.uk ***************************************************************************
