Re: dendrometer bands

Clive,

I've seen an instrument manufactured by FOB (Feinmechanische Optische
Betriebsges m.b.H.) in Salzburg, Austria, called DIAL DENDRO. In their brochure
they claim to be able to measure readings as small as 1/10 mm.

Their address is:
        FOB
        Postflach 12
        A-5035 Salzburg
        Austria
        Phone: 0 66 2 83 23 20
        FAX: 0 66 2 82 58 94

This is to locate a supplier of dendrometer bands.

I wish to take periodic measurements of small increments in diameter growth on
some 200 trees that are 20 cm (10") or more in Dbh. Many years ago I worked
on a project that used dendrometer bands to do this. I have tried to locate a
supplier for the bands, but with no success. The closest thing I can find is
a "microdendrometer" from Forestry Suppliers; this is a single unit that costs
more than $700 ... Does anyone know of a supplier of dendrometer bands or
similar equipment that is appropriate to the task above?

Thanks in advance.
