JOB: Field Technician, Coweeta LTER Site

                Field Technician
                Coweeta LTER Site

We wish to fill a full-time field technician position for a National
Science Foundation funded Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) site located
at the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory near Franklin, North Carolina. This
position will be located on site at the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory.
Duties will include collection of periodic (weekly, biweekly, and monthly)
data for a variety of forested and riparian ecosystem research projects.
These data are generated by datalogger-controlled micrometeorological
stations, plant tissue collections, soil and stream water sampling, and
electronic soil moisture (Time Domain Reflectometry) devices. This
individual will be expected to maintain and upgrade all sampling equipment
and basic electronics as needed. This position will also require working
with other Principal Investigators and our Data Manager to periodically
review the methods and quality of data collections for our long-term data sets.
We seek a motivated and organized individual who can work independently to
maintain the long-term data collections. This permanent position begins
December 1, 1995 (or shortly thereafter) and requires a B.S. or B.A. degree
in a biological field. Field experience with forestry, riparian, or other
ecological research projects is highly desirable. Annual salary range is
$20,000 to $23,000 with full benefits.
Please apply by sending a resume and a cover letter describing your
