Phenolics in seeds *seed insects *New

Dear colleagues,

I am preparing a paper on seed insects on the Japanese beech
(Fagus crenata). Many foliage feeders occasionally infests
cupules and immature seeds on trees. However some of these
foliage feeders are multivoltine spiecies, their infestation on
seeds occur only in early seasons.
I have a hypothesis that more phenolics condensed in seeds than
leaf in late seasons, and the foliage feeders can attack only
young seeds (little phenolics).
I am looking for any information on
Seasonal changes in phenolic contents in seeds on trees
          Comparison between seeds and foliage
