Dear colleagues, A friend of mine has been involved with assessing the damage following a fire, and I've been helping with forest mensurational aspects. One of the problems with which I cannot help him, is attaching a monetary value to a windbreak which was destroyed in the fire. Assessment of the volume involved is easy, but the value in terms of shelter to livestock and crops, and aesthetics, is much greater. I know there is somebody out there who has dealt with a similar problem, and I should appreciate it if I can be pointed in the right direction. Thanks for your time, Brian Bredenkamp Brian Bredenkamp Professor of Forest Management Faculty of Forestry University of Stellenbosch South Africa Phone: IDD+27+21+8083295 Fax : IDD+27+21+8083603
