Westvaco Corporation has an opening for a Wildlife Biologist in Rupert, West Virginia. The Wildlife Biologist will be responsible for promoting and coordinating research activities on Westvaco's Wildlife and Ecosystem Research Forest near Elkins, West Virginia. These activities will include conducting field research, evaluating research proposals, working with the Research Forest Steering Committee, and soliciting appropriate research and funding for the Research Forest. The Wildlife Biologist will provide wildlife and ecosystem expertise in support of forest management activities on 615,000 acres of Westvaco land in West Virginia and Virginia. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Wildlife or related fields and be knowledgeable of forest management practices. The person should be comfortable working in a corporate environment and possess the ability to work with diverse groups. The person will need to effectively interact with hunt clubs, Westvaco foresters, university professors, conservation groups, other scientists, and the general public. Good written and oral communication skills are required. Ideally we are searching for an individual who has some work experience.
