A 3-year graduate assistantship has become open under my direction in tropical forest genetics and breeding at the University of Hawaii. Student can enroll either in the department of Horticulture or in the department of Agronomy and Soil Science under my supervision. Research will focus on quantitative genetic analyses of tropical legume trees leucaena and acacia, including clonal studies. Candidates must have an MS degree, preferably genetics/breeding in orientation, and not necessarily on trees. Desirable qualifications include experience internationally and with spreadsheets, RFLPs and chain saws. Deadline; mid August. For added information: Prof. James L. Brewbaker, Dept. Horticulture, U. Hawaii, 3190 Maile Way, Honolulu, HI 96822 (FAX 808-956-3894).
