First announcement JOINT NORDIC-BALTIC POST-GRADUATE COURSE ON CURRENT ADVANCES IN ARTIFICIAL FOREST REGENERATION We are pleased to announce a post-graduate course in artificial forest regeneration. It is financed by NorFA, Nordic Academy for Advanced Studies. Topics covered range from seed development to reforestation of agricultural fields and sustainability in forest regeneration. The general objectives of the course are: -To bring together experts and students in nursery and artificial forest regeneration studies from Nordic and Baltic countries to exchange ideas and to create networks of reseachers and organizations. -To review the current topics in which active research is going on -To review the topics in which active research is needed in the future -To help 'technology transfer', integration and implementation of research results from the topic areas for the use of practical forestry The course will take place in the fall of 1995, Sept. 18 - 27, at the Järviselja Experimental Forest Station, Estonia. Lectures and exercises are given by the senior researchers, and presentations of research plans or results by the participants, i.e. post-graduate students. All post-graduate students (studies proceeding towards Ph.D. degree or equivalent) working with forest regeneration are welcome from Nordic and Baltic countries! Up to 20 students may be accepted to the course. There is no course fee and travelling expenses are covered by the organizers. Registrations should arrive by June 26th, 1995.
