The issue is addressed in Chapter 9 of my book "Modelling Forest Growth and
Yield", published last year by CAB International, Wallingford UK, ISBN 0

P.S. Sorry about cluttering up the list, but our MS-Mail removes all
postmarks, so I cannot see John Kershaw's address. I think this problem is
common to many Forest readers, so can I suggest that all contributors
explicitly sign their email address?

Subject: Thinning Algorithms
Date: Thursday, 16 March, 1995 11:17AM
I am currently in the process of developing a spatially-based thinning
algorithm from a combination of field and remotely sensed data. The idea
is basically to be able to read a tree list and specify thinning regime
(ie - ba removed, desired spp, quality , other constraints?) and have the
algorithm spit out which trees to cut. It is a relatively new endevor for
me and I have been unsucessful in gathering any articles attempting this.
Does anyone know of anything done in this area?
