A Graduate Research Assistantship Michigan State University Department of Forestry In the area of: Resource Economics Principle Investigator is seeking a computer-literate Ph.D. level student with a strong interest in non-market valuation, risk, and/or choice modeling. The student will be responsible for completing an interview-based contingent valuation study of fire risk in an rural wildland interface setting. The student may also participate in other research on choice modeling, decision theory, environmental psychology, and incorporating non-market values into decision-making. The ideal candidate will have completed graduate study in one of the areas listed above, possess solid quantitative/analytic skills and have demonstrated proven ability to conduct field research with a high level of independence. Ph.D. degrees may be earned in the Department of Forestry with the option of completing MSU's highly regarded multidisciplinary graduate program in resource economics. Benefits include salary ($1188-$1318/month), partial tuition waiver and health insurance. This assistanceship initially covers one year, with renewal contingent on performance and the availability of funding. Starting date is somewhat flexible, but late spring/early summer 1995 is preferred.
