Postdoc Position in Tree Physiological Ecology There is an immediate vacant postdoctoral position at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, to work in an established team on the effects of elevated CO2 and controlled nutrition on carbon allocation in young trees with Professor Paul Jarvis. The goal is to develop understanding of the allocation process in terms of transfers of the carbon and nitrogen containing products of CO2 assimilation and nitrogen uptake to sites of growth, and to test hypotheses regarding the allocation progress that are relevant to the development of process-oriented, mechanistic models of tree growth. Desirable qualifications include an interest in impact studies relating to global environmental change, skills in the analysis of C and N containing compounds, and an interest in process-based modelling of trees and forests. If interested, contact Professor Paul Jarvis at the Institute of Ecology and Resource Management, University of Edinburgh, Darwin Building, Mayfield Road, Edinburgh EH9 3JU.
