Dear colleagues, To our general call, late september, for information on public involvement in nature conservation in relation to work in Ta‹ National Park (Cote d'Ivoire) we received a lot of helpful comments, suggestions, network and other contact addresses, literature lists and hinges. We would like to thank all those who contributed through this medium by information sharing and we found it very stimilating to hear so much encouraging news from all over the world. The literature search has been completed and the compilation of informations on public participation in rain forest manage- ment and conservation activities in Africa will soon be avai- lable (in French) as Tropenbos Document under the title "La Participation Populaire dans la Gestion des Parcs et R‚serves Naturelles en Afrique tropicale forestiere: Pour qui protege- t-on les forets?" The participative approach in Korup National Park (Cameroon), Kahuzie-Biega National Park (Zaire), Manana- ra-Nord Biosphere Reserve (Madagascar), Kibale and Semliki National Parks and the Bwindi Forest Reserve (Uganda) and East Usambaras Mountains (Tanzania) are described and the experien- ces are reviewed in the light of the possibilities at Tai National Park. Those interested can obtain a copy from the Tropenbos Foundation (final version will be available in March 95).
