ASSESSMENT OF BIODIVERSITY FOR
IMPROVED FOREST MANAGEMENT

THE COURSE AIMS AT...
* reviewing the concept of biodiversity and international agreements 
  on the management of biodiversity
* studying the state of the art in the methodology for assessing and 
  monitoring biodiversity at habitat and landscape levels.

THE COURSE IS INTENTED FOR...
researchers and forest managers developing forest management systems. 
The number of participants is limited to 20-25.

LECTURERS...
include internationally recognized experts of forest inventory, ecology
and biodiversity from Switzerland, Sweden and Finland.
Course leasers:
Professor Peter Bachmann, University of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland
and
Professor Kullervo Kuusela, European Forest Institute.

VENUE
The course venue is the National Park of Koli in eastern Finland, 70 km
north from EFI headquarters.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION
31 March 1995

The course fee will be announced later. A limited number of scholarships
to cover the course fee are granted by the organizers.
