Re: non-destructive tree sampling



Depends on what is ment with "non-destructive". If you don't want to cut or drill into the tree
X-ray or magnetic resonance tomography are two methods ready to use but they can hardly not be considered as "simple". 

Both methods require a considerable amount of equipment and the X-ray one is the simpliest.
It has been applied to living trees but requires a lot of equipment.
