Dear forest-netters,
I'm seeking either:
1. a study course followed by applied work
2. post-graduate research degree course
3. post doc research
4. full-time salary work
Specific interests are:
1. synthetic chemical residues in soil, river or ground water and in wildlife
2. effects of natural vegetation clearing on water, climate and wildlife
3. alternative, ecologically sustainable manufacturing (e.g. of paper)
4. chemistry and implementation of recycling
5. satellite data and internet use in environmental assessment
6. dissemination of comprehensive data to the public, its interpretation
7. repair and prevention of terrestial environmental damage
My background is a PhD in crystallography from a chemistry department,
(including the full range of scientific research activities)
followed by working for 9 years, principally as a computer programmer in 3D-
CAD, mapping, remote sensing, computer graphics, science, databases and user
support in Australia, England and Arabia. I've done quite a bit of fruit farm
work and voluntary environmental protection.
Presently I have a small farm in Tasmania but I'd be happy to spend a while
interstate or overseas when my present computing job finishes in Feb'95. I've
always been interested in life processes and over the last few years I've
been deeply involved in environmental concerns and holistic farming. My
research and computer background has been an asset. I'm seeking to change my
daily work from mainly programming to environmental applications. If you
are interested I'd like to know more about the activities in your
institution.
Thank you,
Chris.
