MOLECULAR GENETICIST POSITION

>This Centre undertakes research in major areas of forestry science with
>emphasis on eucalypt plantation forestry.  Its programs include Genetic
>Improvement, Soil and Stand Management, and Resource protection. 
>Participants in the Centre are the CSIRO Division of Forestry, University
>of Tasmania, Forestry Commission, Tasmania and four major forestry
>companies, North Forest Products, Australian Newsprint Mills, Australian
>Paper Manufacturers, and Forest Resources.

>We are seeking to appoint a researcher, within the Genetic Improvement
>Program, who has a PhD in Molecular Genetics and the ability to carry out
>an innovative research project in Marker-Assisted Selection (MAS) to assist
>Eucalyptus breeding programs.  This position will be for a duration of one
>to three years, commencing as soon as possible.

>The specific program to be undertaken will be determined after consultation
>between the appointee, project leaders and the program manager.  One
>research project would involve the construction of linkage maps in
>Eucalyptus globulus using RAPD, RFLP markers and potentially other types of

>importance will then be made and the saturation of the linkage map around
