Dear Colleagues,

the maintainer of this Forest List has changed.  Jarmo Saarikko of the
Finnish Forest Research Institute has taken over the responsibilities
of the listowner from Ari Turkia who continues with other projects at
the University of Joensuu.

On the behalf of the subscribers, I want to thank ATU for the work he
has done bringing up the forest list.  During the past two years, the
list has grown to 670 subscribers, and is now well known around the
world.

Maintaing a list of that size requires a formidable amount of work.
The forest list continues its operation as usual.  However, we are now
experimenting with a new, easier listserver program called "majordomo".  
This may cause some changes in future.
