I have read in the CNS Newsletter of the serious threat of pine canker to Pinus radiata in the Monterey area. Apparently the infestation is so serious that a recommendation has been made not to plant radiata pine in its ancestral home range. I would like to search TREE CD for more information on this canker. Can anyone tell me the scientific name of this canker? What are the threats to other radiata pine growing areas in the world? What are the major dispersal routes for this pest? Is the United States making any special quarantine effort to prevent spread of this disease? Any information gratefully received.
