Seeking sources of information about Stem Analysis

I am a graduate student working on computerized analysis of tree rings.
(Thank you to all who responded to my previous post!)

Previously I have researched dendrochronology, but someone recently 
told me that I should be looking for articles on Stem Analysis, not
dendrochronology.  A search of our local library, and a computer 
database did not find anything under Stem Analysis.

Can anyone give me any pointers to references?
