Research Methods in Forestry Course Announcement, 1995

Course Announcement

Research Methods in Forestry
Universities of Oxford and Reading, UK

12 July - 28 September 1995

This is a relatively new course which brings together the skills of the
Oxford University's Forestry Institute and the Statistical Services Centre,
University of Reading. It is designed for experienced professionals who
wish to acquire new skills and to catch up with new ideas and
technologies in statistics, computing and forestry research.

The course begins at the University of Reading where participants are
given an intensive and practical course in the use of microcomputers,
statistical methods, and basic experimental design and analysis. At
Oxford the course will be given a forestry perspective. The emphasis is
on the growing side rather than on utilisation and on tropical rather than
temperate. Areas covered include forest research administration and
planning, specific problems in forest experimentation and information
retrieval.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own data sets and statistical,
computing or forest research problems.
