1>NCE ON NORTHWEST ECOSYSTEM ISSUES

The Greater Ecosystem Alliance, based in Bellingham, Washington,
now posts its quarterly newsletter, Northwest Conservation: news
and priorities, on Econet. You can find it, along with periodic
action alerts, at the gea.news conference.

The present issue of Northwest Conservation focuses on ecosystem
management. It examines the new bureaucracies associated with
President Clinton's Option 9 plan for Northwest forests, and
includes an interview with Ed Grumbine, a leading conservation
biologist and ecosystem management advocate. Also included are
updates on grizzly bear recovery in the North Cascades and other
articles.

The Greater Ecosystem Alliance is dedicated to protecting the
wildness and diversity of transboundary areas of British Columbia
and the Northwest states. GEA combines science and advocacy, and
focuses on landscape scales.
