For the first time in over 30 years, the literature on this controversial
tropical wood has been collected in one place.

With over 1,000 entries, many annotated, Mahogany: A Research Bibliography
of Swietenia offers the researcher an entry into the literature of the
genus Swietenia, American mahogany.

Since the publication of Lamb's "A Selected Annotated Bibliography of
Mahogany" in 1959, a vast amount of information has been published in
research journals, government documents and independent reports from all
over the world. Great advances have been made in our understanding of the
genetics, propagation, and diseases of mahogany. Recently results of the
first studies on the natural history and reproduction of mahogany in its
native settings have been published, and they may have significant
implications for sustainable use policies in the Amazon Basin, in
particular.

The Center for Environmental Study has collected citations from all
available sources to put together this bibliography. It is now available
on 3.5" diskettes (Macintosh or MS-DOS) as a service to those interested
in the question of mahogany as a sustainable resource.

The price is $25 US ($15 US for nonprofit organizations), including
shipping and handling.

To receive your copy: email your postal address and format preference
back to Monica Rogers at <cesmich@econet.apc.org> and an invoice and
diskette will be sent via US Postal Service.
