I have forgotten most of my economic botany, but I seem to remember two species from the region which could have been used for this purpose, and to my knowledge, the supply of the species may be dwindling - for reasons other than mortars, pestles and foofoo. The two are Iroko (Chlorophra spp) and Ekki (Khaya spp) The specific spp name could be exelsa and ivorensis respectively, but dont hold me to it. If this is an error, please let me know the right spp. Regards, Makundi, W. Lawrence Berkeley Laboratories.
