The Soil Association is seeking a
CHIEF FOREST OFFICER
to direct the Soil Association's expanding WOODMARK timber
certification and labelling programme.
You will be responsible for evaluating forest management
(especially tropical forests), supervising the certification
of forests and timber supply chains, promoting the Woodmark
scheme to timber producers and traders, and carrying out
relevant research.
Qualifications: Forestry or related degree, at least 5 years'
practical forest management experience, preferably in the
tropics. Good negotiation, communication, management and
budgeting skills. Knowledge of the international timber trade
and additional languages an advantage. A part-time option
could be considered for the right person.
Salary 17,000 - 23,000 depending on qualifications and
experience. The post is based in Bristol and will involve
travel overseas.
