Summary: Debarking at the Stump

For those of you who are interested, this is the result of my inquiry
about debarking at the stump. I would like to again thank those people who
responded. The information was very valuable.

Sincerely,

Mathew Smidt

One of the scientists who developed the young eucalypt debarker that I
think that you are refering to works on a part time basis in this
Department. His name is Dr Robin Wingate-Hill and I will pass your message
on to him. I have a short video (8 min) outlining how the debarker works
and if you are interested in obtaining it I can send you a copy, but you
would have to reimburse us for the cost of a blank video tape and postage.
I will also mail to you the chapter in the final young eucalypt program
report which contains details of the debarking work. Unfortunately Robin
never managed to get commercial money to develop his debarker beyond the
prototype stage even though government was willing to contribute 50% of the
funds needed to commercialise the debarker.
