Re: Debarking at the stump

: I am interested in equipment technology available for debarking at the
: stump. I have found references that indicate it has been developed in
 : eucalypt plantations in Australia.

: If anyone has information on:
 :
: 1) Other machines for debarking at the stump.

I ran across a reference to it recently in a paper on skyline yarding in
South Africa. The author was a logging contractor using a "FX550
harvesting head" on a Bell harvester (TH120) for debarking Eucalyptus
grandis. I'm not exactly clear on whether the harvesting head was
part of the Bell line or 3rd party.

The paper is unpublished but you might try reaching the author at

  Derek Howe

  Pietermaritzburg, South Africa

Bell also has an office in Savannah, Georgia
