Re: seeking info on tree disc analysis

:I am a graduate student in Computer Science, and am working on a project that
:is trying to analyze (count, measure, etc.) growth rings by using image
:processing techniques on an image of the disc that has been scanned into a
:computer.

You might look up Regis Miller, Center for Wood Anatomy Research
at the US Forest Products Lab. 608-231-9352.

I know he has scanned thousands of wood samples, particularly for
identification and classification, don't know whether some of
his analysis and techniques would be directly relevant to your
problem.
