Dear Colleagues, Sometime ago I recieved a request from Ms Julia Burnet an archaeologist who has been excavating sites in Cyprus for information on the properties of Cypriot woods. I asked for your help in finding relevant information. I received the following help which was much appreciated. Response 1 I found some informations on the wood properties of Platanus orientalis and Cupressus sempervirens in the following book, which should also be available in Australia: Kollmann, F. 1951: Technologie des Holzes und der Holzwerkstoffe. 2. Auflage, 1. Band, Springer-Verlag Berlin, Goettingen, Heidelberg. If it should not be available, just let me know. Greetings, to Ms. Julia Burnet, too! ____________________________________________________________________________ Dr. Bert Hoewecke Eidg. Forschungsanstalt f. He is quite a resource. Response 3 lars.frivold@nlh10.nlh.no Subject: RE: Properties of Cypriot wood species I would like to draw your attention to a series named "Annual Report of the Forest Administration in Cyprus", later called Forest Report, which was issued in Nicosia by R.R.Waterer in colonial times. I came over it some years ago as a student and I would be surprised if it does not contain some relevant information. They have the series at our Forest Research Institute here in Norway, so I should guess it can be found in some goverment or forestry library in Australia too, once you know the name of the series. Response 4 __Dr. Evans! I suggest you request this information from Prof. G.Tsoumis School of Forestry, University of Thessaloniki, Greece. E.B. All relevant information was mailed on to Julia. Thanks again for your help. Yours sincerely Dr Philip Evans, ANU Dept.
