Position Announcement: ================================ Lectureship in Forest Resource Ecology ================================ The University of Edinburgh Institute of Ecology and Resource Management (IERM) Applications are invited from scientists who should possess a PhD and proven research competence in an aspect of forest resource ecology, such as: silviculture, conservation and improvement of forest resources, or resource assessment. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a strong research programme, to teach in appropriate areas and, where appropriate, to undertake consultancy work. Duties IERM offers a BSc in Ecological Science with several Honours schools, including forestry, and mounts a number of taught MSc programmes in forest science and resource management. The postholder will be expected to undertake research and to contribute to teaching in ecological and forestry related subjects at both levels. There may be opportunities for consultancy work. (S)he should have appropriate qualifications and experience in the area of forest resource ecology and enthusiasm for research in some aspect of it. Particulars The post will be held in IERM and will be for a period of 5 years in the first instance from October 1, 1994. Notwithstanding this, no guarantee of employment beyond the term of the contract can be given. Salary is on the Lecturer A scale (stlg14,756 - stlg19,326) or, exceptionally, Lecturer B scale (stlg20,133 - stlg25,735). There is provision for membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
