I was asked recently how much oxygen is contributed to the atmosphere on a yearly basis by the average tree. I have found considerable information on CO2 uptake by single species and by areas of forest; however, an answer to the oxygen question eludes me. I know I have seen some sort of an answer in the popular press. This is not an easy question to answer because trees differ by species, age, site conditions, geographic location, etc., etc. However, if anyone can provide any sort of answer, I would be most appreciative.
