Postdoc Position- Modeling Global Change Effects on Forests at Regional Scales: Landscape Pattern, Species Change, and Ecosystem Processes 10 May 1994 Newly funded project under USFS Global Change program. Project will be located at the University of Wisconsin-Madison following my move this summer. Responsibilities: Participate in a collaborative research environment with other project investigators. Utilize previously developed Landsat forest classification as input into existing spatial model of forest change and disturbance (LANDIS). Continue model refinement. Link with existing ecosystem process model to simulate process changes, pattern, and tree species movement under global change scenarios in an ecotonal region between prairie, deciduous forest, and boreal forest (NW Wisconsin). Desired Qualifications: Programming proficiency, preferably in C++. Familiarity with GIS (ARC/INFO, ERDAS) and MS-DOS and UNIX computers. Background in forest and landscape ecology, and experience in spatial analysis and modeling. Contact me directly in one of the ways below-- do not respond to the list if this is posted. Minimum two year funding, possibility of continuing. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ David J.
