ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES CENTRES DEVELOPMENT IN INDONESIA (ESCDI)

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE, REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA
SHORT TERM POSITIONS AVAILABLE
ESCDI is athree-year project by the School for REsource and
Environmental Studies (SRES), Dalhousie University, for the
Government of the Republic of Indonesia, to provide overseas
technical assistance and training in a major capacity building
initiative aimed at environmental studies centres in 18
Indonesian universities.
More than 20 short term technical positions will be filled over
the next three years, beginning in the summer of 1994. Most
positions will be one to four months duration (avaerage two
months). Technical areas include:
1. Curriculum development
2. Instructional methods
3. Facilities management
4. Institutional (research) management
5. Research methods
6. Environmental impact analysis
7. Waste management
8. Regional sustainable development
9. Resource management and conservation
10. Environmental planning
11. Environmental health
12. Water resource management
13. Coastal zone planning
14. Environmental rehabilitation
15. Agroecology
16. Environmental policy development
Qualifications: Ph.D or equivalent and a minimum of 10 to 15
years of experience in one or more of the specialty areas.
Preference will be given to candidates who have worked previously
overseas. Experience in Indonesia and knowledge of Bahasa
Indonesia are definite assets for these positions.
