The position is Assistant or Associate Professor in Forestry and Forest Management in the Division of Forestry, College of Agriculture and Forestry, West Virginia University. It is a 9 month, tenure-tract position. The initial salary and academic rank shall be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position carries a 50% teaching and 50% research appointment. Summer salary will be available initially in order to establish a research program. Responsibilities include 1) teaching undergraduate courses in forest management and integrated forest resources management and a graduate course in the area of expertise, 2) planning and developing support for a research program in management of Appalachian hardwood forests, and 3) service activities related to the Division of Forestry's teaching and research programs. An earned doctorate with at least one degree in forestry is required. Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, industry, the general public, and other scientists is essential. Applicants must demonstrate abilities to do independent research in forest management, forest stand growth and yield, integrated forest resources management, or closely related fields such as GIS. Practical experience in forestry is desired.
