The ASEAN Institute of Forest Management is organizing a conference 
on "Multiple Resource Inventory and Monitoring of Tropical Rain 
Forests."  This will be held 21-24 November 1994 in Seremban, 
Malaysia. A call for papers is open until June 30, 1994. There will 
also be a poster session. The objectives are to review the current 
status of tropical rain forest resources, - identify mensurational, 
inventory and data base issues associated with sustainable management 
of tropical rain forests, - to discuss the applicaiton of new 
technologies and methodologies for inventory and detecting changes 
for all forest resources, - discuss practical examples of mulitple 
resource data base development, maintenance, and integration through 
GIS and to recommend cost effective and practical inventory and 
monitoring methods for all resources in the tropical rain forests.
