GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP IN FOREST MANAGEMENT
The University of Kentucky Department of Forestry has funding available for
graduate assistantships in forest or natural resource management. Stipends
average $10,000 (US) per year, and students are eligible for tuition
scholarships and additional teaching assistantship funds.
The research work will depend upon the student's interests and skills. Current
projects include:
1. Evaluation of aggregation in dynamic programming.
2. Use of GIS in forest planning.
3. Use and development of forest and natural resource databases
and decision support systems.
4. Economics of ecosystem restoration.
5. Evaluation of economic impact of timber industry on Appalachia
6. Timber supply and harvest scheduling in the Central Hardwood Region
of the United States
