FACULTY POSITION IN FORESTRY
School of Natural Resources
The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio USA
A tenure-track faculty position is available starting July 1, 1994, in the
Section of Forestry, School of Natural Resources, The Ohio State University,
Columbus, Ohio. Applications are sought for a 12 month position at the
Assistant or Associate Professor rank in forest management and economics, and
natural resources policy. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in natural resources
management, economics, or policy or other suitable discipline. Preference
will be given to candidates with at least one degree in forest resource
management. Prior experience in forest management teaching and/or extension
is an asset.
The successful candidate will:
-- Participate in the continuing development of an effective resident
instruction program in forest management and economics, and natural
resources and environmental policy.
-- Devote thirty percent of time providing leadership, developing,
and conducting a productive Extension program including on-campus and
off-campus conferences and short courses.
-- Develop a recognized research program leading to publication
in appropriate scientific journals and extramural funding.
-- Advise graduate students in degree programs and share in
undergraduate advising.
-- Establish and maintain liaison with Ohio segments of the forest
industry, community groups, regulatory agencies or other organizations
affecting the forestry/natural resources profession.
-- Provide leadership to the forestry/natural resources profession
through local and national scientific and professional society
participation.
-- Communicate effectively with and be sensitive to the needs of
the culturally diverse population of Ohio.
SALARY AND BENEFITS are competitive with those of other major research
universities and are commensurate to qualifications and experience.
