Greetings to readers of this excellent list,

I wonder if readers might bend their minds to the following question : what
are the pros and cons of forcing taper functions to be compatible with
volume functions?

Which do you choose?  Does anyone's organisation have an "official"
position on this issue?

Are there any essential references on the topic?
