Jim,
Thank you for your comments. A constant ratio (Grosenbaugh's Option 1)
applies well to a number of our native hardwoods (and I have used it in
hardwood inventory) but it does not apply to our exotic softwoods.  Really,
I am trying to avoid  relying on ratios/relationships because when dealing
with a great mixture of species and genera as one finds in rain forest, one
has a hell of a problem!
