Subject: A selection of network information resources
A) Mailing Lists (Listserver, Almanacs) and Newsgroups (Usenet)
------------------------------------------------------------
The following selection of mailing lists is a compilation from
different sources. As I am not a subscriber to all the lists
mentioned I cannot give additional information concerning the
contents, the amount of messages per day, etc. The distinction
between the subscription address (given below) and the posting
address for the different discussion lists may cause some problems,
as we have seen this week (the messages from G. Lund and T. Moore).
For reference see also:

these forums and is available for anonymous FTP from net.bio.net

B) Information Systems in relation to forestry
-------------------------------------------
A starting point could be the keyword search of the Gopher
Directories by using "Veronica". This will show you links to
descriptions of some Forestry Faculties, libraries or other
reference services. "Subject Trees" for the agricultural, biological
or environmental sciences often include links to the few forestry
services such as Genome, USDA Extension Service or the Minnesota
Forestry Library (see details below). You may try the subject trees
on the EuroGopher at sunic.sunet.se. There is no "One-Stop-Shop"
available for forestry information.

gopher Server
This gopher provides several bibliographies relevant to the study of
natural resources. Currently, the following bibliographies are
available for browsing and searching:
Social Sciences in Forestry
Trail Planning, Construction and Maintanence
Tropical Forest Conservation and Development
Urban Forestry
Bibliography of Attractants of Blood-Feeding Arthropods
More information about each can be found in the corresponding
directory [...].

My conclusion today:
"I can see some trees there, but I cannot see the forest."
