Management of Forest Research: Emerging Trends

IUFRO Subject Group S6.06 has convened a South African Committee to organise 
a symposium in Cape Town, 5-7 September 1994.  The symposium will focus on 
the specific challenges encountered in managing forest research and 
technology transfer in emerging and newly industrialised economies.  The 
relationships between institutions and government, the private sector and 
donor and aid agencies will be examined, as will the impact of trends towards 
contract research, needs-focused R&D strategies and the commercialisation of 
R&D outputs.

The first announcement and call for papers may be obtained from Anne Tapson 
of Forestek, CSIR.
