Resource Information Coordinator
Forest Resource Department
Weldwood of Canada: Hinton Division
The successful applicant will lead a team responsible for the
development, maintenance, integrity and compatability of Unix-based
information systems for the Forest Resource Department. Specifically,
you will be coordinating the development of Geographic Information
Systems applicaions by working with users to define their information
needs; developing a data model to encompass information requirements;
maintaining existing GIS applications; coordinating development of
applications through contractors and inhouse resources. You will also
serve on various related committees and task forces within the Forest
Resource Department, Weldwood of Canada, and other industry
associations.
The successful candidate will hold a post-secondary degree or equivalent
in Forestry and will have knowledge and training in Unix operating
systems, GIS principles, database design and maintenance. He/she will
have proven skills in application development, delivery and
implementation, with 5-10 years experience in GIS and forest management
and will have experience and skill in working in a multidisciplinary
team environment.
Location: Hinton is a community of 10,000 located in the foothills of
the Rocky Mountains, 3 hours from the provincial capital of Edmonton.
Hinton has most of the amenities of large centers, but is located in
outdoor recreation paradise. It is only a 20 minute drive from Jasper
National Park.
